Land Acknowledgement
Copper Thread Genealogy recognizes that the Copper Country is the homeland of the Ojibwe people, part of the Anishinaabe nations who have lived along the shores of Lake Superior for many generations.
The Keweenaw Bay Indian Community, descendants of the Lake Superior Bands of Ojibwe, are the original and continuing caretakers of this region.
The immigrant families we research arrived in a place that was already home to the Ojibwe, whose language, traditions, and stewardship continue to shape this land.
We honor their enduring connection to the land and waters of the Keweenaw and are grateful for their presence and leadership today.
Miigwech (thank you).
